An embroidered journal-archive where the memory of a physical place is collected. This studio is part of the whole concept of “Yo también bordo flores” project (I also embroider flowers), which tries to provoke a confrontation with traditional embroidery and its general obsession with representing figurative flowers and ornamental elements without any conceptual expression.
“Estudio botánico I” collects the memory of "La Chartreuse de Neuville" Abbey. The stained glasses of the abbey are used as a repeated element to use it as a conceptual geometric pattern. The petals flowers of its gardens are collected, dried and finally, embroidered creating different abstract compositions.
Materials._ Silk organza, dried petals, sequins, cotton thread, silk thread. / Tecnique._ Hand-embroidered silk organza with differents “Lunéville hook” techniques: chain stitch, applying sequins and tubes in vermicelli and in sugar effect, garter stitch./ Between 15-20 pieces / Dimensions._ between 40x40 - 50x30 - 30x30 cm each one
