Granada, 1962 x Ofrenda

Reference: "El Sacromonte de Granada, 1962. Flamenco, encounters with Spanish gypsies" documentary by Lennart Olson.

A black and white frame converted into a transfer. A non-sharp, almost pixelated image that takes you to a pointillist painting. Two essential materials for experimentation: rags, sheets, cotton fabric; the lime, the walls, the stones. Depending on the blackness of the stain, more or less embroidered material accumulates. Contrasts. Landscapes, natural scenes, forgotten in time, abstract photographs. A layer overlay game to create different planes and textures. A painting that becomes a body; a body that becomes a painting.

Materials and natural textures (such as plaster and wicker) are mixed with those from traditional embroidery (pearls and sequins). The past. The tradition. Granada, 1962.
